The Bad Blogger has returned!
Damned Facebook has become easier than working on my own blog-thing. Fie! Fie on thee Facebook!!!
And Twitter? I hardy ever go there any more.
Why bother? It doesn't really make sense to Twitter only when you're at home either after you get home from a long work day, or on the weekend.
Twitter is for people who have iPhones or other smart phones.
People who are not me.
Anyway...since last I was here:
Work: Got a sort of promotion. I'm training my replacement and being trained in a new position.
Everything else: I'm knitting some ChristmaHanuKwanzSolsticeWhatever presents and will buy a couple of things. But other than that? Not doing a lot of shopping.
Still waiting for a bigger apartment to open up here. (Soon...soon....)

And today I'm putting up my annual Star Trek holiday tree.
Actually, right now I'm putting together re-boxing the new vaccuum cleaner that I just bought 6 days ago.
Got up this morning, unboxed the thing, put it together, and started vaccuuimng my apartment.
Really nice. Really, really nice!
Then I turned it off to put some clothes in the dryer, and turned it back on...and...nothing.
WTF?
Changed outlets...and...NOTHING.
WTFFF?!? The cup thing isn't even near full!!
Just called K-Mart (yes, I went next door to K-Mart) and explained the situation and they asked if I had my receipt and the box and I told them yes. So I'm taking it back and getting my money back. Fortunately, the box and packing is still in the doorway. I hadn't taken it out to the dumpster yet.
I think I'll be going up to Costco to see if I can find a decent one for a good price.
Arrrrrgh!!!!!

I wasn't really planning to go running around in the cold today, but I guess I'll do some errands that I was saving for tomorrow.
Frack. Frackin' frack.

BTW, since Haloscan has been bought by a company that wants to charge for it's little commenting thing, I'm pulling the plug on Comments for now.
I'll find another Comments program soon...

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2009

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts.

Read the entire Committee's Announcement.

According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize is to go to whoever "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".

I think that pretty much sums it up.
Look, the Dalia Lama recieved the Peace Prize, and the Chinese are still trying to destroy Tibet.
Nelson Mandela go the Peace Prize, and South Africa is still recouperating from the Apartheid years.
Israel and Palestine's leader got it for trying to fix that mess.
And that, dahlings, is the point. TRYING. Actively trying. Being in the process.
Especially after the last 8 years of bullshite
You can't NOT talk to people and expect to have resolution. (Unless the idea is to not have resolution. Ever. Isn't that right Mr Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield? Endless, non-ceasing war. Isn't that right Halliburton?)
We have a president who has captured the world's attention for good reasons.
The Nobel Committee is asking that we, once again, come to the table and bring the world along.

The right-wing, batshitcrazy and their minions have proven that they hate America.
They cheered like demented banshees when we didn't get the Olympics.
When the Nobel Peace Prize was given to the President of the United States, they lost their shit, completely.
WTF?!

The knitting is progressing. I'm presently working on the Falling Leaves shawl from Rebecca, but I'm doing it as a rectangular stole. Loving Ggh Bel Air. It's lightweight and snugglicious.
There's a pair of socks that I'm on the heel of one and am about to frog back to before turning.
Something happened and I missed something. Feh.
Still working the Jitterbug Vest. I'm almost at the v-neck, but during the summer couldn't touch it.

And I'm learning chords on my little axe.
I can play "Ikea" by Coulton, and I know the chords to Van Morrison's "Moonlight", and I'm working on memorizing the lyrics.
Fun!!

Last, but not least: Rep Alan Grayson from Florida? Dude ROCKS. It's wonderful to see a Democrat call out the Republican obstructionsists and the Democrats who are making me wonder why.
The American public knows the Repubs are now the party of Bat Shit Crazy. It's nice to see someone call attention to their shenanigans on the Floor.

Oh! Last weekend I went to the Tattoo Convention with my partner in crime.
She went on Saturday with a pal of hers and I met her there on Sunday because she found a guy to do a piece on her shoulder.
There was some really amazing art walking around on people.
I felt like I was over-dressed and naked at the same time: No tattoos, and wearing a little hoodie because the A/C was cranked.
I was thinking about having my ear pierced at the top. I talked to some piercers who put my fears at rest about getting a hole put into that part of my ear.
I did find one person and it turned out they only took cash. I ventured out to where the ATM was and found that it was out of order. The Visitor's Center person said that the next available ATM was out on the casino floor. If you're familiar with the layout of the Mandalay Bay, you know that the casino is about 10 miles away from where the Convention Halls are.
Ah well.
Lay-ta!

I READ BANNED BOOKS
AND SO SHOULD YOU!

Celebrate the Freedom To Read

Ah, dang! True Blood is over until July 2010! Looks like it'll be me and the DVDs until then.
I'll also busy myself with catching up Season One of Fringe and Dollhouse. Oh, and Mad Men.
There's a bunch of good stuff that's started up again, though: Castle and Heroes being two of them.
What's a girl to do when she has 1 TV, 1 VCR and no Digital Cable? Why she flies BT Airlines, of course! : )
And she reads. I'm still making my way through the last 3 Harry Potter books, and I'm audio-booking the Sookie Stackhouse series, Del Torro's The Strain Trilogy: Book 1.
I also started the latest from Dan Brown The Lost Symbol. (I loves me some Robert Langdon, OK?)
I'm keeping myself away from looking MSM so-called "news". Too much focus on the batshit crazy people who are against (!) Healthcare Reform.
Part of me blames the Democrats because they can't seem to get their shit together when it comes to Getting Their Message Across.
The Robots (aka "Republicans", though there's none of them left since the Pod People took over) all get on the same motherfucking page. They all spout The Lie over and over and over again.
The Democrats need to get themselves all on the same motherfucking page. They need to get their Talking Points together, which shouldn't be that hard because they deal in FACTS.
ARRRGH! Don't get a sistah started.
Anyway, I'm plowing through a rectangle stole using the Falling Leaf lace pattern. It's made out of that lovely, lofty GGH Bel-Air. I should be finished with it just as it gets cold enough for me to start needing my blazer along wtih my hoodie.
It's been kind of chilly in the mornings. Gone are the 90 degree 4:30 am wake up calls.
I'm gonna miss 'em because I kind of like it when it's warm in the morning. It's the 110 degree days that are the Hell that is Southern Nevada Summer.
I've been doing a bit o' Tweeting (gotta get that webside app re-installed) and a lot o' Facebooking.
It seems to me that unless you have an iPhone or some other Smart Phone, Twitter is a bit useless.
I can't do it while I'm at work. I have it open while I'm at home working on stuff on the 'puter.
Ah well...as I say "Why the hell not?"

BTW, I saw 2 cool shows the weekend of my birthday: There's a show at the Imperial Palace (Yech. Old, and not in a charming way, and with the worst parking structure. Ever.) that's sort of a Japanese Cirque du Soleil. It's called Matsuri.
Great show. If you go, 1: Valet Park because they have the WORST parking structure. EVER. Getting back to the car was like going through the 8 Circles of HELL.; 2) DO NOT let them sit you up front and DO NOT let them sit you in the corner. You must see the show from the middle of the house to the back. The showroom is set up Old School style with the dinner tables out front and the booths from the middle to the back.
And we also went to the Hilton to see Sgt Pepper Live featuing Cheap Trick. That show was really really cool.

And...I'm still playing with Ubuntu.
I've decided put put my computer-building project for after the New Year.
I want to see if the local Community College is going to bring back the class they used to offer about building and trouble-shooting your PC.
